Motorola Solutions celebrates 40yrs in Malaysia, appoints new MD

MOTOROLA Solutions Inc, which provides mission-critical communication solutions and services for enterprise and government customers, is celebrating its 40th year of continued operations in Malaysia.
 
Penang is Motorola Solutions’ only facility with both supply chain and R&D capabilities. The company will open a new research and development (R&D) facility in Penang in September, it said in a statement.
 
Recently, it also appointed Dr Hari Narayanan as managing director of the company’s operations in the northern Malaysian state of Penang.

Hari has had over two decades of experience with Motorola Solutions in Malaysia, including as senior director of engineering and head of R&D for the Penang centre, where he played a key role in delivering numerous innovative products for customers worldwide.
 
Key functions that he established include the Advanced Technology Group, the Programme Management Office and the Product Quality Group.
 
As a result of efforts to drive innovation, the R&D team has delivered a number of patented solutions for customers throughout the world, Motorola Solutions said.
 
The 40th anniversary is a significant milestone for Motorola Solutions, the company said, adding to a number of accolades it has received.
 
These include the 2014 International TETRA Award, the Good Design award and the Red Dot Product Design Award 2014.
 
In addition, the company continues to contribute to the development of local talent through its sponsorship of educational and research programmes carried out by institutions such as Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Multimedia University Malaysia.
 
It also participates in programmes such as Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST), and in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.
 
The company’s commitment to developing the next generation of innovators drives research in the areas of engineering and sciences, and supports the Malaysian Government's call for more programmes that encourage students to strengthen their knowledge in the fields of science and mathematics, Motorola Solutions said.
 
“Since being established in 1974, Motorola Solutions’ Malaysia facility has been at the forefront of using the latest technologies to provide the best solutions for our customers,” Hari said.
 
“We have also made significant contributions to the community, working closely with the Government to support the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) through TalentCorp.
 
“Moving forward, we will continuously work towards enhancing our R&D activities and manufacturing operations, as well as developing our workforce to support Motorola Solutions’ global customers today and into the future,” he added.
