Korea’s TmaxSoft expands into SEA with Singapore office

SOUTH Korean-headquartered business software company TmaxSoft has announced its expansion into South-East Asia with the establishment of a head office in Singapore.

The launch follows TmaxSoft’s rapid international growth with branches established in Japan, China and the United States, and in recent years in Russia, the United Kingdom and Brazil, the company said in a statement.

TmaxSoft, established in 1997, specialises in mainframe rehosting, RDBMS (relational database management systems), big data solutions and middleware. It said it has helped regional customers to evolve their mainframe systems to less costly, more agile open systems while protecting their business logic investments built over the years.

TmaxSoft has also appointed Singapore’s ICT products and services provider ECS Computers as its authorised distributor for its entire portfolio, including middleware (JEUS), database management solution (Tibero RDBMS) and application performance monitoring solution (SysMaster).

ECS Computers is the wholly-owned subsidiary of ECS Holdings Limited, a Singapore Exchange (SGX) mainboard listed company known for its reseller network across Asia Pacific.

“South-East Asia is a hyper-growth market and we see the tremendous opportunity here,” said David Kim, TmaxSoft Singapore managing director.

“Customers are increasingly looking for more innovative software solutions that will help reduce the total cost of ownership, enhance performance and provide complete stability of their IT systems. This can increase the supportability and agility of their IT operations.

“With a strong sales organisation and channel ecosystem in place, we look forward to our success and further expansion into [other] territories, namely India and Australia,” he added.

According to Gartner, the worldwide application infrastructure and middleware software market grew 5% to US$20 billion last year.

TmaxSoft said it recognises the demand for system software solutions arising from trends in big data as a service and big data analytics going mainstream.

This is evident in the South-East Asia market which offers a vast number of mid-market companies ready to invest in streamlining their IT processes to improve operating efficiency, the company said.

“The partnership with TmaxSoft allows us to leverage on its wealth of expertise and superior leadership in system software solutions,” said Sebastian Chong, president of ECS Computers (Asia) Pte Ltd.

“This collaboration could further expand the product and service offerings that we have for our customers,” he added.

Korea’s TmaxSoft expands into SEA with Singapore officeHewlett-Packard (HP) is a strategic partner of TmaxSoft for its range of mainframe rehosting and middleware solutions.

“The IT industry in South-East Asia is facing enormous challenges as organisations look to capitalise on the ‘New Style of IT’ and achieve legacy modernisation,” said Kong Hoe Chan, HP’s general manager of Commercial Sales, Asia Pacific and Japan.

“As a key strategic partner, we congratulate TmaxSoft’s expansion into the region and will look to strengthen our collaboration in offering greater value to organisations seeking to modernise their mainframes.

“This enables us to deliver proven solutions and expertise in helping customers across South-East Asia reduce system costs and complexity while simultaneously increasing system agility and transparency,” he added.

TmaxSoft said it offers two options for companies considering mainframe modernisation. The first is mainframe redevelopment, or redeveloping the IT system on a more cost-efficient and flexible ‘open platform.’

Another alternative is mainframe rehosting, or moving the applications, resources and data from the legacy system to an open platform.
