Fujitsu takes on regional IT infra ops for REC Solar ASAFUJITSU Singapore has been appointed by REC Solar ASA to manage IT infrastructure operations at the global solar energy solutions provider’s Singapore hub in a five-year, multi-mullion dollar agreement.

The provider of IT-based business solutions will manage IT infrastructure operations at REC Solar’s datacentre in Singapore, which supports offices in Singapore, India, Japan, Norway, the USA and Germany.

Martin Cooper (pic), interim chief executive officer at REC said that as the company continues to evolve and grow, it was looking for a partner with experience and strong managed services capabilities.

“Fujitsu not only met these requirements, it proposed a compelling solution that met our current requirements while taking into consideration our future needs. The level of responsiveness from the team also convinced us that Fujitsu is the ideal IT partner to collaborate with, and we look forward to the collaboration in the next five years,” he added.

Originally founded in Norway, following the listing of REC Solar ASA on the Oslo Stock Exchange in October 2013, Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC) emerged as two separate, independent companies: REC Solar ASA and REC Silicon ASA, with separate brands and websites.

REC Solar, comprising the solar panel operation and distribution, is headquartered in Singapore. It has built what it claims to be the world’s largest fully integrated solar manufacturing facility and continues to focus on expanding its product offering and market presence in key markets.

Fujitsu’s Managed Infrastructure Services offering is intended to help organizations cut cost and boost efficiency through technological innovation and high-quality services delivery.
