Fujitsu goes green with trade-in and disposal initiativesFUJITSU has launched its ‘Go Green Campaign’ in select spots in Peninsular Malaysia to promote awareness on technological waste and environmental sustainability.

Partnering with major IT retailers across the nation, the company will provide consumers with the option of trading in old laptops, desktops, printers, monitors and mobile batteries for rebates on brand new Fujitsu selected laptops in the Klang Valley and Penang.

The Go Green Campaign runs from July 25 to Sept 30, and customers may trade in throughout this period, depending on each individual partner store’s operating hours. For more information, visit the campaign website here or Fujitsu’s Facebook page.

“Fujitsu has been practising product recycling activities since 1998 and [we are] now extending it to Malaysian consumers,” said Yap Hui Hui, country manager of Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, saying that this was in addition to the ‘green technology’ implemented in its products.

“Fujitsu is currently working with 11 partners to create drop-off point locations for consumers for the trade-in programme, with us spearheading the campaign,” she said in a statement.

Fujitsu also said it had previously established, and supports to this day, the ‘Fujitsu Group Malaysia Eco-Forest Park’ in Sabah, where over 10,000 employees of Fujitsu raised funds and rallied volunteers in support of the forestation work to restore the tropical rainforests in Borneo.

For the trade-in campaign, consumers have to fill in a trade-in form and bring along their old product to the designated drop-off point to have it checked before they are entitled to rebates for the new laptops.

Consumers are entitled to rebates of up to RM500 (US$155) depending on the items they trade in, which consists of mobile batteries, printers, monitors, laptops and desktops.

Desktops to be traded in must also comply with a complete set of equipment and accessories including DVD ROM, hard disk, motherboard, RAM and processor.

Rebates will be calculated based on the condition of the items traded in, with reductions depending on whether the item is non-functional or has a broken screen.
