Celcom chief Shazalli wins Pikom ICT personality of the year award

CELCOM Axiata Bhd chief executive officer Shazalli Ramly walked away as ‘ICT Personality of the Year’ at the Pikom ICT Leadership Awards held in conjunction with the national ICT association’s annual gala dinner on Nov 1.
To be conferred these awards, individuals or organisations must not only have a history of serving the industry, they should also hold a record of exemplary leadership, growth and performance for and towards the ICT industry, Pikom said in a statement.
The ICT Organisation of the Year award went to KPMG Malaysia; while the CIO Excellence Award went to Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd’s Malik Murad Ali and Redtone International Berhad won a Member Excellence Award.
The awards were presented by Che Azemi Haron, the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia at the dinner attended by 700 captains of industry and leaders, the association said.
“Entering its 6th year, the Pikom ICT Leadership Awards [recognises the] movers and shakers in the industry,” said Pikom chairman Woon Tai Hai, also the executive director at KPMG Malaysia.
“The awards distinguish individuals and organisation's contribution to the ICT industry, [who] become role models to our next generation,” he added.
At the gala dinner, themed ‘Building a Legacy from Strength to Strength,’ Pikom also announced its new building at Empire Damansara, and unveiled a commemorative photo book marking the occasion.
