Wee Kai Teck named managing director of HDS Malaysia

• 20-year industry vet comes from EMC; used to work at Western Digital, CSA and Oracle
• Tasked with establishing strategic alliances and increasing growth for the company

HITACHI Data Systems (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd, has appointed Wee Kai Teck (pic) as the new managing director of Hitachi Data Systems Malaysia.
 
The appointment underscores the company’s commitment to customers and partners in Malaysia, and reinforces its drive towards establishing strategic alliances and increasing growth for the company, HDS said in a statement.
 
Wee joins HDS from EMC Corp where his most recent roles in 13 years were as the director for Enterprise Sales and interim country manager for Malaysia.
 
Earlier, he held key sales and IT roles at Western Digital, CSA, Glaxo Wellcome and Oracle in his 20-year career in the IT industry. He reports to Ravi Rajendran, HDS vice president and general manager, Asean.
 
“Wee comes to us with deep experience and a proven track record of delivering outstanding business results and finding the right solutions for his customers,” said Ravi.
 
“His expertise holds tremendous value as we continue to penetrate high growth areas and drive sustainable growth in Malaysia,” he added.
