In a statement Pikom said the SEADragon Series which it organised has received over 150 applicants from the tech startups and scaleups space, looking for investments, growth, and global market expansion.
Pikom chairman Sean Seah, who also chairs the Venture Investment Chapter said Pikom, along with SEATech Ventures Corp, GreenPro Capital Corp, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and a number of local startup and scaleup ecosystem partners have carefully assessed each participant.
“What we hope to achieve is to prepare and bring these top 20 Malaysian tech companies to Penang and they get to pitch to the tech VCs and investors at a global platform such as WCIT 2022,” he said.
Currently, all 20 companies are undergoing mentoring sessions to prepare themselves to impress investors. These startups include AngkasaX Innovation, Best2Bid Technology Sdn Bhd, Cortex Robotics Sdn Bhd and Cult Creative.

MDEC, as the strategic partner of SEADragon, said it believes that the digital economy ecosystem which consists of a strong digital infrastructure, robust policy, and regulatory frameworks, skilled and knowledgeable digital talents, and strategic collaborations, make Malaysia a viable location for global unicorns to land and expand regionally.
