NI and MARA set up LabVIEW Academies to boost engineering ecosystem

  • LabVIEW Academies offers classroom curricula and hands-on exercise to undergraduates and graduates from MARA
  • To promote more LabVIEW-trained and certified engineers to the electrical and biomedical engineering industries

NI and MARA set up LabVIEW Academies to boost engineering ecosystemNATIONAL Instruments (NI) has entered into a strategic collaboration with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to set up LabVIEW Academies at the two colleges of higher education under MARA: Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM) Ledang and KKTM Beranang.

The two partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding last Friday at the KKTM Ledang campus.

“The LabVIEW Academies will provide excellent an opportunity to overcome the challenges and demands for LabVIEW-proficient engineers in Malaysia as well as in South-East Asian region,” said Chandran Nair, Asean managing director at National Instruments.

The engineering sector has been contributing significantly to the growth and development of Malaysia, an emerging Asian country aspiring to move towards a technology-driven, high-income economy based on growth industries and highly skilled workforce, National Instruments said in a statement.

According to MARA chairman Annuar Musa, LabVIEW has been widely used in academia and industry, and engineers and researchers that are trained with LabVIEW software are highly sought after in Malaysia as well as globally.

“We are happy to collaborate with NI to help enhance our engineering education system and graduate more LabVIEW-trained engineers and professionals to contribute to the economic development of Malaysia as well as the region,” he said.

LabVIEW Academy provides academic institutions around the world with classroom curricula and hands-on exercises to train students on the NI LabVIEW system design software.

The LabVIEW Academies will be established at KKTM Ledang and KKTM Beranang. The partnership also presents an opportunity for students and professionals from MARA-linked companies and academic institutions to attend trainings led by NI instructors at the Industry Training Centre set up in KKTM Ledang.
