Mimos launches open platform for the IoT

MALAYSIA’S national research agency Mimos Bhd has announced Mi-MIST (Mimos Internet Services of Things), an ‘open innovation platform’ established for the development of technologies based on the Internet of Things (IoT).
Mimos is the implementation secretariat of the National IoT Strategic Roadmap which was rolled out in July 2015 to serve as a guiding document aimed at making Malaysia a premier regional IoT hub.

There is a need to harmonise the various standards and protocols of the IoT in order to accelerate innovation, and Mi-MIST would play a key role in facilitating such harmonisation activities, said Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Madius Tangau (pic above).
The IoT would be a key enabler for the new, innovation-based economy, he said after launching the Asean IoT Innovation Forum in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 18, which was held in conjunction with MyIoT Week 2016.
At the event, Madius also launched also launched RecoMedia, an IoT-based device for collaborative presentations, developed by EV Dynamics Sdn Bhd on the Mi-MIST platform.
