AT THE recently held World Congress of IT (WCIT) in Taiwan, Malaysian companies and organisations were recognised for technological leadership and innovation on the global stage – clinching several awards at the 2017 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards (WITSA-GIEA) and the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) awards.

Both award ceremonies were held in conjunction with the 21st World Congress on IT Summit (WCIT) 2017, held in Taipei, Taiwan.

WITSA is the international voice of the global ICT industry, whose members come from over 80 countries and economies representing more than 90% of the global ICT market.

The awards were well-received coming on the back of a productive industry trip to Taiwan – organised by Pikom with the purpose of forging stronger business ties with Taiwan’s ICT sector to facilitate technology and knowledge transfer as well as to foster networking and business matching opportunities.

Sub-industries explored were robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and Smart of Things.

Pikom’s delegation of 71 business leaders was the largest foreign delegation that attended WCIT.

According to Pikom chairman Chin Chee Seong, participation in this year’s WCIT and the subsequent award wins in both WITSA-GIEA and ASOCIO reflect Malaysia’s continued spirit of excellence, and that local companies can compete with the best in the world.

“Pikom is pleased with these achievements by local ICT companies. The win continues our track record of industry excellence at global levels. These companies have pitted themselves against the best of the best and have done well.

“We invite more local companies to participate as such award competitions are the ideal ground to hone your competitive positioning and to really test yourself against the best of the best. Pikom congratulates all winners and merit award recipients,” said Chin.
