Cam Walker appointed head of iflix Indonesia

KUALA Lumpur-headquartered regional Internet TV service iflix has announced the appointment of Cam Walker (pic above) as head of iflix Indonesia.

He brings with him over 20 years’ experience in media, content and marketing-led businesses, iflix said in a statement.

He was most recently with Emtek Group, one of Indonesia’s most prominent media, content and technology businesses, which operates free-to-air TV networks.

Emtek, through its subsidiary Surya Citra Media, recently invested an undisclosed sum in iflix, in a round led by Rupert Murdoch’s Sky Plc which invested US$45 million.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Cam [Walker] to the iflix family,” said iflix Group cofounder and chief executive officer Mark Britt.

“He has a strong track record of delivering effective results and understands the nuances of the Indonesian market very well.

“iflix has gained exceptionally strong momentum in South-East Asia over the past months, and Indonesia is a key part of our expansion strategy,” he added.

As the head of content development at Emtek, Walker spearheaded the restructure of the group’s production joint ventures, internal production teams and studios into a consolidated, independent content company, PT IEG.

He also oversaw the monetisation of the network’s extensive content library, OTT (over the top) distribution and partnerships, and linear pay channel development.

Prior to Emtek, he served as vice president Indonesia territory head for Fox International Channels.

“I am thrilled to be joining iflix at this very exciting time. The growth opportunities in Indonesia are vast and I look forward to working with the team to drive these opportunities forward, and delivering on the iflix vision,” said Walker.

The iflix service is currently available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
