SILVER Peak has announced the appointment of Doug Farndale (pic) as vice president of its Asia Pacific operations.
He will drive the expansion of Silver Peak’s WAN (wide area network) optimisation and software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) business across the region, the company said in a statement.
Coming with three decades of networking and telecommunications experience, Farndale will lead operations, channel partnerships, and sales for Silver Peak in the region.
Throughout his career, Farndale has held senior positions in sales, engineering, product management, business development, marketing, alliances, and services, Silver Peak said.
Based in Singapore for 15 years and operating across Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, for 22 years, he recently worked closely with various startups focused on public and hybrid cloud solutions.
Earlier in his career, Farndale set up the Asia Pacific cloud services strategy for Cisco, prior to which he worked for StrataCom. He has also held engineering, pre-sales and management roles in Europe with Texas Instruments and Case Communications.
“According to leading analysts, the Asia Pacific region will experience the highest global growth in the WAN optimisation market over the next four years,” said Farndale.
“Silver Peak is expanding its efforts to capitalise on this and the emerging SD-WAN opportunity in the region, where virtualisation and cloud have already seen growth and widespread adoption.
“We will aggressively recruit competent channel partners to address the SD-WAN growth opportunity,” he added.
