Role begins with immediate effect, has been with Avaya since 2006
Company expects ‘significant’ growth from Asean region
AVAYA has announced the appointment of Richard Spence (pic) as the new managing director for its Asean region.
He begins his role with immediate effect, with responsibility for Avaya’s business in Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Indochina, the company said in a statement.
Spence has been with Avaya since 2006 and has demonstrated sustained success and an ability to deliver the solutions that map to specific customer requirements throughout that time, Avaya said.
Since 2013 he has been responsible for one of the largest Global Account customers – and one of the largest financial services players - in the Asia Pacific region, Avaya said, without disclosing the customer’s identity.
Prior to moving to Singapore, he was the account director for Avaya financial services customers in EMEA (Europe/ Middle East/ Africa), and before that was responsible for Major and Global Accounts brands.
“Asean is a truly vibrant and rapidly evolving market place, and we needed a leader who could deliver on the opportunities for our customers and partners, and for Avaya, with the advent of the Asean Economic Community,” said Avaya Asia Pacific president Mike Ansley.
“Richard [Spence] is a proven sales leader and achiever, and I look forward to seeing significant growth from Asean in the months and years ahead,” he added.
Before joining Avaya, Spence had a variety of roles with Legend Communications, HP and BMW Financial Services, and also launched his own startup which won the 2004 HSBC Young Enterprise Award.
A native of Scotland, he is an alumnus of the Leicester Business School at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom. He will continue to be based in Singapore.
“Our customers across Asean are looking for more effective ways to engage with their customers and their own teams, to deliver business growth and delighted, loyal customers,” said Spence.
“I am committed to helping them achieve success with solutions and services that are tailored to their individual requirements,” he added.
