Nokia appoints new head for M'sia, Maldives and Sri Lanka

NOKIA has appointed Mohd Rauf Nasir as managing director for Malaysia, Maldives and Sri Lanka, effective Aug 1. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Mohd Rauf will oversee Nokia’s business and operations for the countries he has been tasked with, the company said in a statement.
Nokia said Mohd Rauf has more than 30 years of experience in Malaysia’s telecommunications and IT sectors.
Before joining Nokia, he was the country president of Motorola Solutions Malaysia, where he helped grow the company’s business of mission-critical communications in the areas of public safety, oil and gas, transportation, and enterprise, it said.
Prior to that, Mohd Rauf held various senior positions at IBM where he managed sectors that include the public sector, healthcare, and defense.
His last role in IBM was the general manager of the communications sector, where he focused on key segments such as telecommunications, utility, and media.
Nokia said his extensive experience in Malaysia will be instrumental to its continued drive to expand its business in the region, and especially crucial for leading Nokia’s delivery of innovation and key solutions, including high-speed private wireless networks and 5G.
