Merchantrade-LintraMax partnership to provide cashless ecosystem at Malaysian plantations

The digital wave is coming to Malaysian plantations. LintraMax, a leading provider of oil palm plantation management solutions, and Merchantrade Asia announced a partnership to bring digital payment solutions to oil palm plantations across Malaysia.

Merchantrade’s digital payment solutions will be introduced  to oil palm plantations that are currently using the Quarto plantation management system from LintraMax. They will also reach out to the plantations’ workers to introduce a digital wallet to them – Merchantrade Money.

Khor Kheng Khoon, founder and managing director of LintraMax said, “Payroll processing at plantations is the main pain point that we are trying to address through this partnership. Currently, many plantations still rely on cash and cheques to pay employee wages every month. These methods are not the most efficient or safest, so LintraMax hopes to turn these methods of wages payment into digital, such as through the use of digital wallets. This is where Merchantrade’s expertise is crucial and we are excited to partner with them.”

Merchantrade’s founder and managing director Ramasamy K Veeran said, “We are excited to partner with LintraMax to enable seamless digital experience into their growing ecosystem through our innovative Merchantrade Money eWallet.”

Ramasamy adds that Merchantrade is continuously expanding its ecosystem of relevant services through industry partnerships and collaborations, creating new ways to make them available to all walks of life. “Our vision is to bring a whole new level of convenience to everyday lives, be it for companies or their workforce alike.”

There are currently about 100 plantation companies around the country that use the Quarto plantation management system developed by LintraMax.

“Digital wages payment solutions can help companies reduce risks associated with using or having cash. The solutions can also help minimize physical contact during the Covid-19 pandemic and ensure transparency in the company’s payroll,” Khor added.

“Through Merchantrade Money eWallet app, workers will receive their wages and get greater access to digital payments allowing for easier cashless purchase of provisions as well as sending money back home. Migrant workers would find our digital wallet solution ideal because it already comes in multiple languages,” Ramasamy continued.

“Digitalization is a core component of what we do at LintraMax. To have a large effect on the plantation ecosystem, we need to collaborate with domain experts such as in digital wages payment. We certainly hope that this initiative will open doors to more collaborations so we can have a greater impact on digitalizing the plantation ecosystem in our country,” Khor concluded.
