HOOQ strengthens its senior leadership by appointing Michael D’Oliveiro as the company’s country manager for Singapore.
In his new role, he will be responsible for managing the market and will focus on expansion through customer acquisition, retention, and key partnerships.
“We are very excited to welcome Michael as a leader of our team in Singapore. With his over 18 years of diverse experience in the broadcast and telecommunications industry, we are sure that he will uncover new business opportunities here” said Hooq chief executive officer Peter Bithos.
Most recently, D’Oliveiro worked for Telstra in Australia where he developed, launched and managed their first B2B portfolio of online video products outside of the country.
He was also responsible for onboarding and managing key partners, and held global P&L responsibilities working with customers from as far as the UK to Australia and Singapore, building an extensive view of market needs and challenges, especially in the Asia Pacific region.
Before joining Telstra, D’Oliveiro (pic) was part of the core consumer product management team at Astro in Malaysia, where he helped develop and manage its early OTT products. After which, he eventually went on to manage both set-top box and OTT SVOD products.
Highlights of his stint also included the launch of Astro Byond VOD, which became Malaysia's premier set-top box SVOD service as well as being invited to serve on Akamai's global media customer advisory board.
Born in Singapore, D’Oliveiro grew up in Melbourne where he studied film and TV. His passion includes watching movies (especially anything by Christopher Nolan), scuba diving and photography.
