Google Cloud has announced the appointment of Hana Raja (pic) as country manager of its business in Malaysia. She will be responsible for leading the local go-to-market strategy and operations for Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and for working closely with teams across Google to help organisations transform with enterprise-grade, AI-powered cloud technology.
Hana reports to Serene Sia, country director, Malaysia and Singapore, Google Cloud, who oversees the enterprise, public sector, and corporate business segments in both countries.
Hana joins Google Cloud following leadership roles at Cisco and Bain & Company. She brings over 16 years of experience advising and partnering with executive leadership teams of prominent organisations across financial services, retail, consumer packaged goods, healthcare, automotive, energy and utilities, and the public sector—defining sustainable growth strategies and enhancing customer experiences.
Serene Sia said: “Hana joins us at an exciting phase of Google Cloud’s growth in Malaysia. We’re not only investing deeply in local computing infrastructure—such as a sovereign cloud with Dagang NeXchange Berhad, a Google data centre, and a Google Cloud region to meet organisations’ diverse transformation requirements—we’re also supporting large-scale initiatives like AI at Work 2.0 with the Ministry of Digital and National AI Office, Teraju AI Selangor with the State Government of Selangor, and the Gamuda AI Academy.”
“With her vision, experience, industry network, and focus on people and culture, Hana will play an important role in advancing our growth journey in this key market. We are confident that her leadership will help more local organisations thrive in a digital economy projected to be worth up to US$70 billion (RM311 billion) by 2030,” she added.
Hana Raja said: “Google Cloud has established itself as a trusted partner for data- and AI-powered innovation for Malaysian organisations, providing best-in-class infrastructure, platform services, industry solutions, and consultancy expertise to supercharge how they understand and act on critical information. I’m excited to join Google Cloud and continue this important work.”
“We have strong ambitions for further growth in Malaysia, and I look forward to expanding our local team and partner ecosystem. Together, we can build on the company’s successes to date and increase the scale and scope of our collaborations with government and businesses. This will ultimately accelerate the delivery of next-generation digital services to better serve Malaysians and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global technology hub,” she added.
Organisations in Malaysia have turned to Google Cloud to support their growth and address critical business challenges. These include enterprises such as Bank Muamalat, Capital A, DNeX, Gamuda, Malaysia Airports, and Maxis; public sector bodies like the Ministry of Digital, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the State Government of Selangor, the National AI Office, the National Digital Department, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation; as well as startups like Asia Mobiliti, Carsome Group, and Mindvalley.
In May 2024, Google announced a US$2 billion (RM9 billion) investment in a new Google data centre and Google Cloud region in Malaysia. Construction of these facilities began in October 2024 at Elmina Business Park, Selangor. This investment is part of Google’s ongoing collaboration with the Government of Malaysia to boost the country’s digital competitiveness and accelerate AI innovation.
