Fujitsu Singapore announces new president

JAPANESE information and communication technology (ICT) company Fujitsu announces the appointment of Motohiko Uno (pic) as the president of Fujitsu Singapore, with effect from Jan 1, 2019.

The appointment follows the stepping down of former Fujitsu Singapore country president Wong Heng Chew, who has accepted the role of advisor for the company.

In this role, Uno assumes overall responsibility for driving strategic business growth and development for Fujitsu Singapore. He will also oversee the overall direction and market strategy for sales, marketing, services and support operations.

In particular, he will focus on powering companies’ transformation journeys by leveraging on Fujitsu Singapore’s IT services business.

A veteran in the IT scene, Uno has a deep understanding of the business needs of IT industries, especially across the Asia Pacific region.

With over 24 years of management, business development, marketing and services experience, he has spearheaded Fujitsu’s business growth in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Asia Pacific including Singapore, and established the management structures for supporting Fujitsu’s customers’ local and overseas requirements through technology collaborations.

Key achievements include establishing Fujitsu’s Select Partner Programme in 2004, the first virtual team to support six countries in Asia concurrently, which saw a five-fold growth in revenue.

Wong, as advisor to Fujitsu Singapore, said, “I am delighted to have Mr Uno helm the team in Singapore, as we embrace a new era of unprecedented digital transformation. With Mr Uno’s extensive experience in understanding the unique enterprise needs of different Asia Pacific markets and development of innovative management systems to effectively support co-creation initiatives locally and across borders, I am confident that he will bring Fujitsu Singapore’s leading market position to greater excellence.”

Uno added, “Fujitsu is on the forefront of technology excellence, human-centric innovation and creating new value for our customers, and we want to continue to lead in these aspects. I hope to bring about greater synergy between the needs of Singapore-based and global companies and our digital solutions, to strengthen existing systems while addressing emerging issues in areas such as security, IoT, and cloud. As more local companies look to expand overseas, we will leverage on our global networks to bring seamless digital support, every step of the way.”

Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd was established in 1997 to provide leadership in business development, technology innovation and customer support as regional headquarters for the Fujitsu group of companies in Asean and was subsequently established as the Asia region headquarters as well as the Singapore office in 2014.
