Ex-airline exec, Ignatius Ong appointed CEO to lead TNG Digital’s eWallet push

TNG Digital Sdn Bhd (TNG Digital), a joint-venture between Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd (Touch ‘n Go) and Ant Financial Group, announced today the appointment of Ignatius Ong as its new chief executive officer effective 12 August. Ignatius succeeds Syahrunizam Samsudin, who will return to his role as CEO of Touch ‘n Go.
A 15-year airline veteran, Ignatius comes to TNG Digital having most recently served as group chief revenue officer at Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and immediately before that as CEO of Firefly Airlines from 2011 to 2018. His prior responsibilities at the airline covered various areas of growth, revenue and sales management.
Commenting on the appointment, chairman of TNG Digital, Zafrul Aziz said, “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Ignatius to what is possibly Malaysia’s fastest growing company. He comes into the role suitably experienced, and with a firm mandate to accelerate growth at TNG Digital as it moves to maintain and solidify its position as the No.1 e-wallet player in the country, directly supporting the nation’s cashless agenda.”
