East Ventures welcomes Avina Sugiarto as its new venture partner

East Ventures, a pioneering sector-agnostic venture capital firm that has supported over 200 companies in Southeast Asia announced Avina Sugiarto as a Venture Partner at the firm.
In a statement, the company said Avina will leverage her extensive experiences to invest in growth-stage technology companies and further drive sustainability and integration of ESG practices in East ventures’ investments.
Avina has over 12 years of experience in investing across alternative assets including venture capital, private equity, private credit, and special situations across industries from technology, property, logistics, natural resources, to consumers and financial services. Prior to joining East Ventures, she was a senior vice president at Indies Capital Partners where she was responsible for deal sourcing, analysis, execution, and fundraising across Indies’ investment products.
Avina was also a key member of the investment partnership with Varde Partners, a US$15 billion global alternative asset manager, headquartered in the United States.
Having passion to empower under-developed communities through promoting financial literacy, Avina has had involvement in various formal and informal women’s networks in the financial services industry in Indonesia and Singapore, including 100 Women In Finance, Endeavour, WomenWorks and She Loves Tech.
Willson Cuaca, co-founder and managing partner at East Ventures said Avina is no stranger to East Ventures as the company has been working closely with her on many successful projects and look forward to working even closer to address huge opportunities in Indonesia.

Avina graduated magna cum laude from McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia, with Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Accounting, and currently attends the Stanford Graduate School of Business LEAD Executive Leadership & Innovation program.
