Double Eleven expands its footprint to Malaysia

UNITED Kingdom-based games developer and publisher Double Eleven announced on Jan 22 their continued expansion with the opening of a new development studio in the first quarter of 2020 in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur.

This new studio will be there to provide a full complement of development capabilities including quality assurance, art, software engineering and production. The Kuala Lumpur studio will work alongside main development teams in the United Kingdom on current and next generation titles.

While the new studio will open in spring 2020, recruitment will begin in February. Initially Double Eleven will be recruiting full-time staff in development and management positions, including a new Malaysian Studio Head. Applicants can find further details on the Double Eleven Careers Page.

“Malaysia’s high calibre talent and its great ecosystem between governments, universities and businesses are among key reasons for our entry. We’re excited to be taking our people first approach with this expansion and tapping into Malaysia’s highly capable local talents, hoping to become an integrated and active member of their burgeoning games industry,” said Double Eleven founder and chief executive officer Lee Hutchinson (pic, above).

“We’re building Double Eleven Malaysia our way; it’s going to be a great place to work and we’re looking forward to the new team there becoming part of our tribe. Our Malaysian studio will bolster the incredible teams we have working in the UK, taking Double Eleven to the next level. The Asian market is a huge player on the global stage, and we want to be at the vanguard of this exciting new hotbed of our industry."

“Malaysia has developed a vibrant and successful digital creative content industry over the past 15 years, with numerous international companies choosing to set up studios here. The current focus on realising the Digital Content Ecosystem Policy (DICE) reinforces Malaysia as the Heart of Digital Asean for animation and games content development,” said Hasnul Hadi Samsudin, vice president, Digital Creative Content, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

“Our wide pool of exceptional talents, business-friendly government and ecosystem of great companies are key reasons companies are investing in Malaysia.
