Dimension Data appoints former SAP exec as new APAC chief

ICT solutions and services provider Dimension Data has announced the appointment of John Lombard (pic above) as chief executive officer (CEO) of Dimension Data Asia Pacific, where it has 50 offices across 13 countries.

He joins from SAP, where he was senior vice president responsible for services and support across 14 countries in Asia Pacific, and was central to driving the company’s cloud services, consulting, custom development and education portfolio, Dimension Data said in a statement.

During his time at the company, he also led the consulting business in Australia and New Zealand and was globally responsible for business consulting, business analytics and technology services based out of Walldorf, Germany.

Prior to SAP, Lombard was the CEO and managing director of Crowe Horwath Australasia Ltd (formerly WHK Group), which was Australia and New Zealand’s largest public-listed integrated financial and business advisory company, according to Dimension Data.

Lombard takes over from Bill Padfield, who has been CEO of the region since 2003 and who will move to a new role as chairman of Dimension Data Asia Pacific.

“John’s [Lombard] expertise and wide-ranging background in delivering services that help clients unlock the value of their IT investments will be critical as Dimension Data continues to transform itself to a next-generation IT services company,” said Padfield.

“Throughout his career, he has been focused on providing consultancy that drives transformation and ensures clients keep up with the latest market trends and stay ahead of the competition – we look forward to him doing the same at Dimension Data,” he added.

Speaking of Padfield’s contributions, Dimension Data chief operating officer Jason Goodall said, “Bill has quadrupled revenue for the Asia Pacific region during his 13-year stint as CEO, and built a strong talented team with a keen commitment to client and employee satisfaction.”

Lombard, who will take up his new role on May 3, will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of Dimension Data Asia Pacific Group’s operations. He will be based at the company’s regional headquarters in Singapore.
