Computrade Technology appointed Dbvisit’s distributor in Malaysia

COMPUTRADE Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (CTM) said it has been appointed the value-added distributor for Auckland, New Zealand-based Dbvisit Software Ltd in Malaysia.

This would pave the way for CTM, the local subsidiary of Jakarta-headquartered IT enterprise solutions provider Computrade Technology International, to market Dbvisit’s disaster recovery and replication solutions for Oracle databases in Malaysia, it added.

In a statement, CTM said it will provide an extended range of value-added services to its business partners such as systems integrators, independent software vendors and resellers, to support them in selling and marketing Dbvisit’s solutions.

“CIOs (chief information officers) and IT decision-makers are challenged to always innovate, at a reasonable cost,” said CTM managing director Danny Chiam (pic above).

“Through Dbvisit’s disaster recovery and replication products, they will able to provide high-performance IT in an effective and efficient way,” he added.

According to a Vanson Bourne survey of 1,250 respondents in Asia Pacific, for the EMC Global Data Protection Index, enterprises lost US$343 billion as a result of data loss and downtime per year, CTM said in its statement.

The survey also revealed that 73% of organisations in the region are not fully confident in their ability to recover after a disruption.

With Dbvisit Standby, business continuity is ensured by making a copy of databases at a remote location and keeping it constantly updated. If a disaster strikes, standby databases can automatically switch to primary database status, making the transition almost seamless, CTM claimed.

“Dbvisit is committed to furthering our presence in Malaysia, while supporting our partner channel in the best manner possible,” said Dbvisit director of international sales Mike Stephens.

“CTM’s … visions to be a trusted partner to its principals, business partners and end-users by providing professional services to guarantee successful implementation … is in line with our market strategy,” he added.
