Additionally, users will have to go into their MyDigi app and activate 5G by picking it as a free add-on called 5G speed booster.

U mobile offers 5G to all of its U Postpaid 38, 68, and 98 subscribers as well as its Prepaid U25, U35, and U40 subscribers.

According to the Digital National Berhad (DNB), 5G coverage is expected to hit 40% of populated areas by year end and is mainly focuses on urban areas with the Klang Valley having the largest coverage.

To get the 5G service, users will have to make sure that they have updated their iPhone 12 or later to iOS 16.2 and update their carrier settings to version 53.1. Both can be done in Settings. The iOS update is in Software Update and the carrier settings update will pop up in About if it is available.

Once the iPhone is connected to the network, a 5G indicator will appear between the battery level and signal strength bars on the top right of the display.

While the speed and stability of the 5G connection vary depending on how it is implemented and its location, the most tangible benefit of 5G is its ability to connect to more devices than 4G which means it is more dependable in high-density areas.
