TIME to power HITBSecConf with Malaysia’s ‘fastest-ever’ Internet speedOct 04, 2012
The connection would be a dedicated link direct to the global Internet exchanges powered by TIME’s 100% fiber optic network, giving participants the fastest ever Internet access in Malaysia. It’s the first of its kind for any HITB event, the group said in a statement. Over a thousand hackers, developers, security professionals and tech enthusiasts from across the globe are expected to descend on Kuala Lumpur for this landmark conference. Expected to have the biggest turnout to date, HITBSecConf2012 will commemorate 10 years of hosting the best minds that have helped shape the global security landscape. “Since this is a geekfest of the highest degree, it is only right that the geekiest data provider should provide the pipes,” said TIME chief executive officer Afzal Abdul Rahim (pic). “[A] 500Mbps dedicated link is a crazy speed, never before seen in any conference in Malaysia, but I fully expect the participants to redline our pipes all four days.” As the official Internet connectivity sponsor, TIME will provide seamless Internet connectivity and almost unlimited scalability for the conference’s unique events such as the HackWEEKDAY, a 36-hour hackathon; and Capture the Flag, a virtual 32-hour nonstop competition. “These are the guys that make our Internet safer and also push the limits of any technology,” Afzal said. “With 500Mbps to boost them in the right direction, who knows what more might be achieved during these four days?” TIME, which recently launched its 100Mbps broadband service for Malaysian homes, claims it regularly breaks Internet speed records in the country, reflecting the stability, reliability and strength of its 100% fiber network.
“I think most Malaysians haven’t even experienced what 10% of 500Mbps is like and with so much bandwidth on tap, this is certainly a good a time as any for attendees and the general public to also grab the latest software updates and security patches for their systems,” he added. A technical and deep-knowledge event, HITBSecConf2012 will enable participants to learn first-hand about security threats in today’s super-connected world and act as a platform to enable the dissemination, discussion and sharing of critical network security information. HITBSecConf in Malaysia is endorsed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), MSC Malaysia and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI). ‘We’re going to blow everyone out of the water’
