Google Cloud appoints Patrick Wee as country manager for Malaysia

  • Brings with him 20 years of experience in technology leadership
  • Malaysia’s digital economy predicted to be worth US$35bil by 2025

Google Cloud appoints Patrick Wee as country manager for Malaysia Google Cloud today announced the appointment of Patrick Wee (pic) as the Country Manager of Google Cloud’s business in Malaysia. He will be responsible for leading local go-to-market operations for Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and collaborating with teams across Google to help companies digitally transform their business with enterprise-grade solutions and technology.

Patrick reports to Megawaty Khie, Regional Director, Indonesia and Malaysia, Google Cloud, who oversees Google Cloud’s enterprise, public sector, and corporate / mid-market business segments in both countries.

“Malaysia’s digital economy is on track to be worth close to US$35 billion (RM155.35 billion) by 2025,” said Megawaty Khie, Regional Director, Indonesia and Malaysia, Google Cloud. “We have been increasingly collaborating with organisations of all sizes—from large enterprises like Axiata Group and Media Prima to digital natives like Bungkusit.”

Patrick joined Google Cloud from Zoom, where he was Head of its Malaysia business. Before that, he was the Head of Enterprise Business for Malaysia at Amazon Web Services (AWS) for over six years. He was AWS’ first hire to build out its enterprise business in Malaysia. 

In his 20-year-long career in technology leadership, Patrick has also served as Country Director of SAP’s business in Malaysia and Singapore and held management roles with Oracle, Symantec, and T-Systems. 

Patrick holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Western Sydney University in Australia. He is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and enjoys high-intensity interval training, running, travelling, and reading.

In Malaysia Google Cloud has been working with companies like Axiata Group, Capital A (AirAsia Aviation and airasia Super App), JB Cocoa, KPJ Healthcare, Malaysia Airlines, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation, Maxis, and Media Prima, just to name a few.
